Oein is a traditional practitioner from the indigenous ethnic Irish Minceir (Traveller) community, a manager of an adult education centre, folklorist, Gammon speaker, herb worker and keeper of traditions, lore and retellings.

Oein has run community specific and cultural imbued workshops and classes on national, regional and local levels and maintains monthly herb and divination spaces. In his workshop Oein will be exploring “Apotropaic threads: The creation and crafting of traditional protective cords” alongside their indigenous associated folktales, customs, working and worked ways of care and a collective minding of the self, kit and kin.

During the workshop you’ll get to explore the threading, dyeing, weaving and binding of a charm, the blessing, beckoning and the arrival of an age old and maintained tradition of ‘a good keeping’.

Come as you are – but please bring if you can, an open heart, an inquisitive mind and the kindness of who you are in the unexplored spaces between us.
