Ray

Raymond Sweeney is a Pagan, whose Mother identified him as such in his early years,
and raised him accordingly, with a wary eye.

He has lived as a celibate monk in Naas, Co. Kildare since he was eleven years old,
as did his father and grandfather before him.

Most things Raymond says are to be taken with a pinch of salt,
which is why prolonged exposure frequently causes high blood pressure.

He is also the head of Pagan Federation Ireland,
and was the person responsible for convincing
the Irish government to allow legal Pagan marriages,
becoming Ireland’s first ever Pagan Solemniser on
the 15 th December 2009.

Raymond is an award winning brewer and distiller,
with over twenty five years professional engineering
experience in the trade.

He will be giving a talk on his involvement in the Art of Distilling,
exploring some of the lore connected to it,
giving a practical demonstration on making flower spirits,
and generally rambling on at odd, but hopefully entertaining tangents,
as the mood takes him.

This will be his third speaking appearance at Eigse.

No known photograph of Raymond exists.
